Music for December 15, 2019

Dear GCC Choir Singers,
Please arrive this Sunday at 8:40 am for an 8:45 am rehearsal of one of the Pageant Sunday morning (Dec 22) anthems Andy would like to run through ahead of time.
Lise and I have chosen two anthems for this 3rd Sunday of Advent:
The Solstice Song by Alouette Iselin, my piano/SATB arr.

I Heard From Heaven Today – Andy's beautiful arrangement of this traditional American carol that was collected by Ruth Crawford Seeger.
LYRICS

Solstice Song
Alouette iselin

Let me
come in and share your light,

For I'm
without a home tonight,

Let me
come in and share your light,

And a
warm place by your fire.

It looks
so golden warm within,

Sheltered
from the winter wind,

Songs
and laughter, friends and kin

Have
brought me to your door.

Open
your door, for here I stand,

My only
gift is my empty hand,

And
empty heart and broken plans,

This
dark day of the year.

I am
without a home today,

And soon
I will be on my way,

I only
ask you to let me stay,

For an
hour by your fire.

I Heard From Heaven Today
traditional American

Hurry
on, my weary soul, and I heard from Heaven today

Hurry
on, oh my weary soul, and I heard from Heaven today.

A
baby born in Bethlehem, and I heard from Heaven today . . .

The
wise men saw and they followed that star, and I heard from Heaven today . . .

The
shepherds heard the angels' song, and I heard from Heaven today . . .

A
bell is ringing in the other bright world, and I heard from Heaven today . . .

Blessings,
Peter
