Law and the Prophets

March 24 Guilford Community Church, UCC, will continue the Lenten focus on the Sermon on the Mount, focusing this week on Matthew 7: 1-5 and the verses warning against Judgement.  
Curtiss Reed Jr, executive director of the Vermont Partnership for Fairness and Diversity, will lead a film discussion after church on the newly released Bess O’Brien film, “I Am From Here” which tells the stories of of children and teens of color and their experiences in Vermont Schools.
The service itself will include music under the leadership of Peter Amidon from the African American repertoire: “Walk Little Children”, By the Waters of Babylon” and “Climbing High Mountains”. Rev. Lise Sparrow will offer the homily, “On Alert”, reflecting on Elizabeth Alexanders poem “Praise Song for New Day”, written for Barack Obama’s 2012 inauguration and on the scripture found in Matthew. The Sunday school will continue the Holy Land curriculum, focusing on the town of Jericho and the story of the Good Samaritan. Nursery Care will also be provided. Everyone is welcome.
