It will also focus on the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi and will include a virtual blessing of the animals. The scripture includes lectionary readings from Genesis 1:20-25 and Matthew 26:26-28 part of the story of creation and the institution of the Lord’s Supper. The sermon by Pastor Lucozzi is called “In Communion”. Music under the direction of Peter Amidon includes the anthem, a setting of the Prayer of St. Francis, “Make Me Channel of Your Peace” music by Peter Amidon and hymns: “All Things Bright and Beautiful”, “We Come to This Table”, lyrics by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette and the Mexican folk song “Des Colores.”. The service will also feature the poetry and theology of St. Francis, the children’s story is a retelling of the story of St. Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio, prayers and concerns for the world and our time are also woven into the service. Everyone is welcome.

For further reflection and prayer:

Hungry Planet: What The World Eats is a Time Magazine online exhibit based on American photographer Peter Menzel and writer Faith D’Aluisio book “Hungry Planet.” The two have traveled the world documenting that most basic of human behaviors—what we eat. The book and the online exhibit depict everything that an average family consumes in a given week—and what it costs.
