Sunday worship begins at 10am in a live ZOOM format, and is followed by a ZOOM coffee hour on April 26. Rev Lise Sparrow will lead a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, featuring special music for the day: “What a Wonderful World”, “Captain Kidd” and “Great Trees” , along with three hymns featuring many musicians: Larry Crockett, Andy Davis, Rachel and Dwayne Johnson, Guillaume Sparrow-Pepin, Arthur Davis and Emma Schneider along with the Nine O’Clock Choir. Lila Tadlock and Finn Breismeister will be the readers for the day with readings from Wangari Maathai, the Ute People, and the 12th chapter of Job. The children’s story will lift up the rainbow as the symbol of God’s promise and the congregation will be invited to color and hang rainbows in their windows. The sermon, entitled, “What Are We Fighting For?” includes the amazing story of the 24 young people involved in JULIANA v. UNITED STATES Youth Climate Lawsuit. Their complaint asserts that, through the government’s affirmative actions that cause climate change, it has violated the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property, as well as failed to protect essential public trust resources. Everyone is welcome, the service will also be posted on Youtube under Guilford Community Church and on BCTV. Services can also be found on BCTV Wednesday morning at 6:30am and Sunday mornings at 8am or anytime online at www.brattleborotv.org. Please know you are in our prayers always and ever and that we hope you are able to enjoy all the blessing of Spring.
