January, Sunday 26 at 10am the Guilford Community Church will welcome the Rev Paul Sangree, the Associate Conference Minister for the United Church of Christ in Vermont. Rev Lise Sparrow will lead worship and Rev Sangree will offer a sermon based on Matthew 9: 9-13, entitled “My Name Is Matthew”. He will also meet after church with those interested in learning more about the pastor succession model being used by the Church. Rev Sparrow will share the story of Jesus in the wilderness with the children during worship and Rev Larrimore Crockett will follow up during Sunday school, talking with children about “temptation”. Music for the day includes two anthems: “Shut the Door, Keep out the Devil” an African American gospel piece and “If Ye Love Me” by Tallis. Hymns include an epiphany favorite :”Oh Morning Star” and “Go Forth for God” by J.R. Peacey. Everyone is welcome.
