Worship for September 13 takes place online at 10am and on BCTV at 8am and again on Weds morning at 6:30am. The link to the live stream can be found on the church homepage at guilfordc.sg-host.com. This Sunday, the new pastor of the church, the Rev. Elisa Lucozzi, will take the mantle from the outgoing pastor, Rev. Lise Sparrow, and they will lead a service of holy communion and blessing together. Rev Lucozzi has moved to the area from her previous ministry in St. Johnsbury and began September 1. Rev Sparrow has served the church for the past twenty years and will be retiring the end of September. The service begins with a welcome song from the children of the church and prayers and reflections, based on the UCC theme “God Is Still Speaking”, written by Rev Lucossi. The scripture for the day is taken from Psalm 46 and Exodus 14:10-15. Rev Lucozzi encourages the congregation to take this time of transition for stillness and listening and one of the young adults of the church, Lily Quintero will share her experiences with “waiting” for monarch butterfly chysalis’ to mature. Music for the day under the direction of Peter Amidon includes the opening chant “Be Still and Know I am God”, hymns “Blessed Quietness”, “Eat this Bread” and “God of Life” and the anthem “Birds at the Dawning”. Everyone is welcome.
