Sunday, September 22 is the Annual Just Peace service at the Guilford Community Church. This month the congregation is looking back at places in the world where local teens and members of the congregation have learned and helped out. Tomorrow the children’s story will focus on the the island of St Croix and its location from the perspective of the wider universe, at once a speck and a jewel. Rev Lise Sparrow will offer reflections on the first epistle written to Timothy by Paul, chapter 2, verses 1-7 and the paradox of “perfection”. Anthems for the day, under the direction of Patty Meyer, include “Somebody Prayed for Me” and “How Could Anyone Ever Tell You” and hymns, “There is a Balm in Gilead” and “ I Will Sing of Your Love, Love, Love”, the banner song of the 3 Great Loves campaign of the United Church of Christ. The middle schoolers will be filling Clean Up Buckets for hurricane relief and the elementary school is finishing an ABC book of Christianity for the congregation. Nursery Care is always provided.
