The February 24 10 am worship service at Guilford Church will focus on the core teachings of Christianity expressed in Luke 6: 27-38, “But I say to you that listen, love your enemies” everyone including the children in Sunday School will face the tough questions of our times and of our faith. The children’s curriculum this week features life in a Palestinian village and the story of a young Palestinian girl and her relationships with Israeli children. Older children will finish building Palestinian houses together and younger children will learn a game commonly played in the Holy Land.Music under the direction of Peter Amidon includes an original composition by Amidon himself entitled, “The Good Samaritan” and “There Is No Hatred in Christ”, a traditional gospel favorite. In recognition of Racial justice Sunday,
Rev. Lise Sparrow will offer a homily, “The Many Colors of Joseph’s Coat”, including the story of the reconciliation and forgiveness of Joseph and reflecting on facing and healing racial injustice. Everyone is welcome.
